As we enter in the end of October I would like to pose a question, what does vacation mean to you? Does vacation mean rest and relaxation, a new adventure, family time, same old same old just not going to work? The dictionary states that vacation is “an extended period of recreation, esp. one spent away from home or in traveling” . . . . what is vacation to you? Does your actual vacation vary from your desired vacation?
At the end of the summer I had the privilege of going on a vacation, a week long vacation to Cape Cod, one of my very favorite places.
I was very excited to relax, read a few books, enjoy a little bit of beach time and maybe some quality time with Dan, my family even my dog.
Apparently I wasn’t thinking when I picked the week in August smack dab in the peak of senior season! What was I thinking!?
Trying to get as much accomplished as I could before vacation we headed down and arrived much later than expected, but just in time for a great family dinner!
After spending two days, and a few hours in front of the computer working I made it to the beach! That third day was a great day! I tried standup paddle boarding for the first time and loved it, friends came in that night to visit have a little getaway of their own and I got to have a impromptu photo session!
One of my past senior models was vacationing a couple miles away! Fun, impromptu sessions are far and few between these days, but on this vacation of work, I got to play and photograph at sunset on the beach!
Why am I only sharing this now!? Well, as my vacation got pushed aside a bit, my impromptu session editing did too. It’s getting colder now, almost all yearbook images have been submitted, or will be soon and things have slowed. Well they have started to slow down just a little bit and so I thought I would share a few of my favorites . . .
This vacation was not what I had expected, but I did get to photograph at sunset on the beach, I did spend some quality time with family and friends and yes I did spend one day on the beach with my book!
