April is Autism Awareness month, and it has started out with an outstanding community fundraiser!
“Over the last 10 years, the Ashburnham-Westminster Benefit Hockey Game has helped families who have sick or injured children. The money is raised through ticket and food sales as well as raffles and auctions. All of the money raised goes to the families with no strings attached.” ~ Community Journal: 4/8 article by editor Caitlyn Kelleher
This years 10th annual benefit was held in honor of Cody, a local autistic child, and it was a huge success! Many local business contributed to the raffle, and even more members of the community went to show their support. A huge thank you to everyone involved, there is nothing better than a community coming together to help out another.
Congratulations to all the walked away with raffle prizes, I hope to meet the lucky session winner very soon!
So I ask you, what else can we do as a community to help someone in need? What other events should we all be aware of?
If you are a runner or a walker come on out to the Music for Life Rock n’ Run a 5k race and music event on May 7th! don’t be shy, it will be my first 5k too 🙂
