This is your first time having your senior portraits taken, I’m sure, so how you should prepare?
What should you do with your hair, makeup and skin? Should you bring anything with you?
All great questions! Here are some answers!
What should I do with my Hair? It’s best to not get a new haircut before your session. If you want to try something new, be sure to book your session out quite a bit to avoid any unwanted style that will be forever seen in your senior portraits. Be sure to come prepared with a comb/brush, hairspray, elastics, flowers . . . whatever you may want to use or will need. Guys, remember to bring a comb or extra styling cream/gel for that look your going for!
What about makeup? Ladies, I can’t recommend having your makeup applied professionally enough! This gives you a chance to relax and look your best. I have teamed up with makeup by Carissa Ashley again this year and have select sessions available with her. Be sure to let us know if you are interested in professional makeup! Carissa discounts to SMP seniors, charging $35 which does include touch-ups throughout the session! Remember your nails too! They should be clean and free from chipped polish as again, the camera sees all! 🙂What about my skin / tan lines? Drink plenty of water and stay out of the sun a few days before your session. Red skin is not easy to deal with; sunburned and peeling skin is even worse. We can zap most blemishes via Photoshop if we absolutely need to, but you’ll want to make sure you take care of your skin with a good cleaning regimen each morning and night. Also a friendly reminder to both girls and guys, be careful shaving so as not to cut yourself! The camera sees everything, be sure to take care of any stubble you don’t want to be seen!
Can I include Props? Play sports? Dance? Play an instrument? Have a hobby? Here’s your chance to shine with incorporating those into your portraits. Bring anything along with you that you think you’d want to see used in your photos. If you’ve seen something done before, ask us about it!
