One of the things I loved about living in California and now miss is the growing season. Though I wasn’t a huge fan of the seasons there, being summer and summer light, I missed the snow – what can I say I’m one of those that loves the winter – I love all four seasons actually . . . . . Anyways the growing season is crazy long and that means the farmers markets are almost always around!
Here in New England summer may be nearing to a close, but rest assured most farmers markets will continue until the fall – when the frost comes around.
So yeah, I LOVE farmers markets!
First and foremost I love that I can support the locals and small business owners like myself. I love the fact that many times you are face to face with the people that grew that very tomato in your hand, I mean how cool is that!?!
Then there’s the sustainable factor which is always a bonus. If your eating food grown in your local area that means your cutting down on the money, energy, and resources needed to ship the food to you And your doing your part to help the environment.
